Pro tip: you’re gonna want to grab a cup of coffee before you wade into this email. But there is lots of important info here, so please do read it all.
Youth Protection Training
The BSA has updated YPT, and *everyone* needs to re-take it. A few of us have already done it…what are you waiting for? Sign in at my.scouting.org.
- Sign up now for The Huts this coming weekend. While the boys are practicing their wilderness survival skills, adults have the option of sleeping on comfy beds and waking up to hot showers.
- In April, we will be shooting at things near Walker, MI. (Not random things, it’s a real gun range.) Mark your calendars now for April 20-22.
- Reservations have already been made for the May campout at Yankee Springs (thanks, Dave). Tune up your mountain bike (or ask Wade to do it for you) and prepare to have a blast May 18-20.
- The plan for June 15-17 is backpacking on the Manistee River trail. Would anyone be interested in leading a concurrent canoe trip? We could have two separate groups meet up at the same spot for the night. Let me know.
Everything you need to know about summer camp is now posted at troop271gr.org/summer-camp-2018. At that site, you will find links to health forms, merit badge info, pre-camp prep checklists, and more! Now would be a really good time to schedule your son’s physical (and yours, too, if you’re planning to attend).
Please note that there will be no meeting on Maundy Thursday, March 29. There will also be no meeting on April 5 due to Spring Break.
We are still working on finding an April service project, but mark your calendars now for May 5 from 9-12. On May 5, we will be spreading mulch and doing general outdoor tidying for our Chartered Org, Mayflower Church. Let’s get as much of the troop out for this as we can!
